Terje. The crowd. The mushroom hut. All symbolic of the US Open.
An era in snowboarding that is immortalized by progress, equipment advances, and sheer adrenaline. Being on the deck at the US Open during these times was special to me and to anyone else who participated or witnessed it. These were the glory days when the riders, the photographers, and the crowd were one.
This image of Terje was captured during a practice run at the 1995 US Open at Stratton Mountain.
Coming off of an ankle injury and missing the ‘94 Open, Terje won the event that year making it his third US Open win. Terje Haakonsen went on to dominate the 90’s snowboarding scene and is considered one of the most influential snowboarders in the history of the sport.
